About this event

This workshop is adapted from the popular ‘Write it Right!’ series and is aimed at early career researchers and those new to writing grants. The objective is to give you some essential background on how to navigate the funding landscape and to help you with writing a clear research funding proposal that will have a good chance of success. The workshop is split between two sessions on consecutive days to allow participants to contribute their own ideas.

The first session covers how to find a funder and scheme that aligns with your research plans. We look at what you need to do before you start writing, how the application process works, and how your application is judged. The emphasis is on making a plan before you start writing and on clear communication, using a ‘10 key sentences’ model to form the basis of your proposal. In the second session, we go into this model in more detail and look at example ‘key sentences’. You will have the opportunity to write your own ‘Summary Sentences’ and submit it for feedback and discussion.

If you have any queries please contact Emma Warbrick (e.warbrick@dundee.ac.uk) for more information.
